Kitchen Questions and Answers

Q. What guarantees does Broadway offer?

Broadway guarantees to repair and replace, free of all charges for labour and materials, any product which develops faults due to defective materials or construction during the guarantee period. Furniture is guaranteed for 10 years and appliances for 1 year. However, even an occasional Broadway customer returning after 15, 20 or 30 years to resolve a minor problem is rarely sent an invoice.

Q. Does Broadway only make expensive kitchens ?

Much will depend on the size of your kitchen plus the style of cupboards and worktops but Broadway manufactures, supplies and fits kitchens from £15,000 to £75,000 and beyond.

It doesn’t matter whether a customer lives in a terraced house, a townhouse, high-rise apartment, cottage, house in the country or a moated manor house in an urban or rural environment there’s a Broadway kitchen to suit the owner’s budget, backed-up by a our price promise charter. Broadway can usually beat any like-for-like written quotation, sometimes by as much as 30%.

Having our manufacturing facilities in our own premises in the Midlands means that our overheads are low and you are dealing directly with the kitchen manufacturer so you cut out the middleman’s profit and we pass these savings on to you the customer.

Q. Does Broadway only make bespoke traditional kitchens ?

Historically Broadway is best known for Edwardian, Georgian, Victorian, Regency and country-style kitchens but each Broadway fitted kitchen is designed to meet the needs of the purchaser within the scope of the room and the budget. As customer taste varies so do Broadway bespoke kitchens with style preferences ranging from almost every decade of the past 400 years right up to the ultra-modern hi-tech sophisticated kitchens brimming with glitz and gadgetry.

Whatever a customer’s preference our high quality kitchens and attention to detail remain consistent whether traditional, shaker-style or contemporary.

Q. Does Broadway work outside the Midlands ?

Broadway bespoke kitchens can be found in all counties, across England, Scotland and Wales in towns, villages, cities and rural locations. Our customer base is diverse; good taste and an appreciation of quality are not restricted to one sector of the population, any specific occupations or location.

Q. Does Broadway have a strong sales force ?

No potential customer comes under any sales pressure from Broadway. The company prides itself on happy customers who often become friends and return to buy from Broadway if they move house, update an existing kitchen or ask Broadway to fit-out other rooms such as bedrooms, studies, home media centres etc.

Q. Can Broadway make special kitchen cupboards ?

Almost every kitchen cupboard installed by Broadway is special because it’s made to suit not only the kitchen itself but the lifestyle and preference of the customer. Even when each worktop, carcase, door, cornice and pelmet is truly a bespoke one-off it doesn’t mean that it carries a price-premium. Our customers are as special as their kitchens.

Q. Is Broadway really a family business ?

The same family which has owned and run Broadway since it was established in 1974 is still at the helm every day of the week. Two sons, one grandson and other members of the founder’s family are responsible for every aspect of the company and its ongoing success designing, manufacturing and installing bespoke kitchens. When the economy was buoyant the family invested profits back into the company. As a result Broadway owns its own manufacturing premises and machinery so the company has no debts and is financially secure even through the current recession which has caused the collapse of other companies in the market for luxury fitted and bespoke kitchens.

Original Broadway customers from the 1970's regularly drop in to the showroom for a coffee and a chat with the same man who designed and installed their kitchen. More and more frequently those original customers are sending their children and grandchildren to our showroom to experience a truly personal service and to become part of the extended ‘Broadway family’ of customers.

Q. Does Broadway also buy-in kitchens from others ?

Yes, insofar as a very tiny number of specialist doors with special finishes are externally sourced from other specialist kitchen manufacturers. From raw timber to finished unit the overwhelming majority of carcases, doors, pelmets, cornices and pilasters are manufactured in our carpentry workshops where customers can see their actual kitchen being made.

Q. How long will it take to complete a new kitchen project ?

Usually from one week to fourteen weeks depending on the complexity of the design. We will be able to give you a schedule once you have chosen your furniture and appliances.

Q. Do you do the essential lighting, plumbing, plastering, etc ?

Part of the free design service provided to each customer is an electrical wiring diagram and a specification for recommended lighting to suit the customer’s needs. Broadway uses qualified plumbers, electricians and Gas Safe engineers to install appliances. Appropriate safety certificates are issued to customers. Broadway offers a total solutions package covering heating, lighting, plumbing and flooring meaning that you won’t need to worry about a thing. Specialist builders, plasterers, tilers and decorators regularly work on Broadway kitchen installations to the same exacting standards as all Broadway employees.

Q. Do you have to buy all kitchen appliances from Broadway ?

Each customer has a choice in all things and appliances are no exception. Broadway is an accredited agent for several of the leading appliance manufacturers but the customer’s existing appliances or those sourced elsewhere are frequently installed by the company. We are also able to source most appliances on behalf of our clients.

Q. Does Broadway do rooms other than kitchens ?

It’s true to say that Broadway specialises in bespoke, luxury fitted kitchens and ‘unfitted kitchens’ but that is by no means exclusive. The company will just as readily design, manufacture and install bedrooms, home offices/study, entertainment areas, home media centres, dressing areas, bathrooms and playrooms, often with free-standing furniture, to the same level of style, quality, practicality and expertise as Broadway kitchens.

Q. Will I be able to find matching items such as kitchen tables and chairs, dressers, radiator covers etc ?

We also create these additional pieces in our carpentry workshops to complement or match your chosen design exactly.

Q. Where can I obtain advice on colour schemes, blinds and fabrics to complement my new kitchen ?

Broadway has excellent relationships with carefully chosen interior designers who will be happy to offer advice on any additional finishing touches you desire to ensure that your new kitchen is seen in the best possible light.

Q. What if I am not totally satisfied ?

We are confident that won’t happen. Broadway has justifiably gained a wealth of experience and an enviable reputation over the last 4 decades. You will get a truly wonderful kitchen which is built to last. For peace of mind we only ask you to pay the final instalment once the whole project is completed to your satisfaction. If you do have any issues, we would be surprised and anxious to resolve them speedily - we are only ever a phone call away.
