Over 500 entries were received across the 12 home and product categories, which were considered by a rigorous judging process. The panel of experts read like a ‘who’s who of design’ – a 17-strong team including Sebastian Conran, Wayne Hemingway, George Clark, Jackie Daly, Clarissa Hulse, Orla Kiely and Robin Levien. The kitchen category attracted many high-profile and respected brands and the other short-listed finalists were Philippe Starck, Poliform, Arclinea, Binova and Alno. The Grand Designs Award marks a hat trick of accolades for Metris Kitchens, coming hot on the heels of the Homebuilding and Renovating best kitchen innovation, and The Designer magazine's gold award for product innovation.

To be ranked alongside such formidable competition was an honour in itself, but for the Metris Wave Curve® to win overall is simply overwhelming. It's less than a year since the Metris® brand was launched, so such recognition is incredibly rewarding.
